‘pzizz sleep’ is now available on the iTunes Store!

I’m delighted to announce that ‘pzizz sleep’ is now available on the iTunes Store :

http://itunes.com/app/pzizzsleep

As a “thank you” to our existing customers, we are pricing it at $2.99 / £1.79 until 14th December, at which time we are increasing our prices to $9.99 per app. It’s simply not worth trying to compete with all the ‘one track’ apps at $2.99.

pzizz is a quality product, and our prices need to reflect that.  I know that this will upset some people, but for those who want a ‘one track’ app I suggest they download and listen to the free MP3 samples from http://www.pzizz.com and “pretend” they’re using what other companies have the cheek to call an “app”!

In our mind, an “app” should do more than display a graphic and play a single soundtrack, but this is exactly what everyone else is selling.

pzizz does so much more than this, and our new price will reflect this fact (but still be less than the cost of a CD which only play single soundtracks!)

So, if you’re interested in putting the best sleep app possible on your iPhone at a ridiculously low price, grab it now!

Best wishes, happy pzizzing - and sleep well, everyone…  :-)

Hi! I’m happy that it’s finally available!

I do, however, have a request for the next version…

In pzizz relax, as the end of the session comes up, the voice comes back and starts to say wake-uppy things. It would be nice if in pzizz sleep, you could set the wake-up time, and some period of time before that, pzizz sleep would start saying wake-uppy things as well.

    Thanks,
    Ricky

    Hi Ricky

Thanks for your message and for your feedback!

We’re currently looking at ways of including a wake up alarm, but I’m not sure if it will be possible to have it speak “wake-uppy” things, as Michael Breen (the voice of pzizz) has left the country… I’m sure we can find a good alternative, however!

    Happy pzizzing - and sleep well… :-)

Cool stuff! I’ve been waiting for this for when I’m traveling!

    edward's reply:

    Hi Geert

I use pzizz when travelling between the Far East and Europe - and it *really* helps me combat jet lag!

I’m sure it will do the same for you - Bon Voyage!

    All the best

I was so glad to hear about Pzizz Sleep on the iPhone. I’m a long time user of the Mac version and more recently “Relax” on my iPhone. Now I have the full compliment of Pzizz goodness in my hands. Thanks for your continued support!

    edward's reply:

    Hi Jeff

Delighted to hear you so happy to have pzizz running natively on your iPhone - it really does make life easier, doesn’t it? :-)
    Happy pzizzing!

Hey just got the iPhone app. This is good stuff. If you’re bored and looking for things to implement in future versions, I wouldn’t mind having presets on the iPhone version, like there are on the desktop version. Then I can switch between my 26 minute power naps and my 20 minute power naps in 0 time flat.

    Good luck,

    edward's reply:

    Hey Ryan

Thanks for your message and for your suggestion!

If we can find a way to implement “presets” without interrupting the flow, we’ll be sure to do so in one of the future updates!

    All the best

If you want to promote pzizz and get it ranked higher in the app store, maybe you should run a promo code gveaway to draw attention. You could do it over Twitter or partner with a blog like TUAW.

    edward's reply:

    Hi Joseph

Thanks for your feedback! Funnily enough, I’ve been looking at the idea of a competition / giveaway using Twitter for a while, but, in all honesty, I’m not sure how to do it!

Has anyone got any experience in this regard? Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks! :-)
    All the best

Well i dont have any experience in Twitter. I just want to say congrats on the new homepage design!
Its much better and more informative.

    edward's reply:

    Hi Alex

Thanks for your message - I’m glad you like the new home page, even though it’s still a “work in progress”!

The idea was to try and give as much information as quickly and simply as possible, as the whole pzizz concept has proven quite a tricky thing convey properly…

    Thanks again!

    All the best

Two iPhone apps - what’s the real difference?

I am really enjoying your relax program - excellent indeed! I am wondering about the sleep one - what’s the real difference between the two?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    edward's reply:

    Hello

Thanks for your message and your interest in pzizz! I’m so pleased to hear how much you’ve been enjoying your ‘pzizz relax’!

The difference between the two apps is huge! For example, one wouldn’t listen to a “Lose Weight” program if one really wanted to “Give Up Smoking”, even though they both deal with addictions. So is it with pzizz ‘relax’ and ’sleep’ - similar issues, but very different usage.

‘pzizz relax’ is designed to “relax, de-stress and re-energize” you during the day - in the form of a power nap.

‘pzizz sleep’ is designed to help you to switch off the mental chatter at the end of the day, and ease you into wonderful, deep restful sleep at night.

Whilst they are both relaxing, and you may fall asleep sometimes when listening to ‘pzizz relax’, the program is designed to wake you up at the end of your session. The words tell you to wake up, the music changes (with the same purpose) and there’s an alarm in case of backup.

The imagery, words and music in ‘pzizz sleep’ are completely different, and you’re certainly not meant to wake up when it stops playing. Have a listen to the samples on http://www.pzizz.com to see what I mean!

    I hope this helps? :-)
Best wishes - and happy pzizzing!

    Hi from Paris,

i just got the iphone app. And, I am extremely disappointed. Is this a joke?
i’am talking about “pzizz sleep”. When i push “start”, ok, the music starts. (+ voice). BUT, i read about your description : “structured random algorithm creates a DIFFERENT soundtrack EVERY TIME you use it (over 100 billion combinations). Ok. When i push “start”, the music is strictly identical. The beginning is always identical. During 5mn, it is exactly the same music. I’am musician, it is my job (jazz pianist), and I compared. So, Am I stupid? bug ? scam ? 8 euros.

please, could you explain why you specify a “random music”?
    sorry for my english.

    Thx

    edward's reply:

    Hi Pierre

Thanks for your message and for your feedback!

Althought it might initially not seem like it,
in the first 11 minutes of the sleep module
there are over 121 million different voice
combinations! However, some of the voice
files in this ‘intro’ are kept the same for the
    subconscious to use as ‘anchors’.

The first 5:46 of music is the same every time.
We did this because it was more powerful for
the subconscious to have this familiarity at the
beginning of the program and there are several
musical ‘reference points’ that interact with
specific spoken messages. We found this was
more effective than using random sections during
    this stage.

In total there are well over 5 billion combinations
of soundtrack for this ‘intro’ section of 11 minutes.

The software can only work by using the structured
random algorithm programmed within it so if it is
actually generating a soundtrack, it will be ‘random’!
There is no way it can ‘break’ and play the same thing
    every time. ;-)
Please don’t ask me to try to calculate the total number
of soundtrack combinations for the entire module!!

Anyway, I hope this helps, but do let me know if you
    have any other problems…

With all best wishes - and continued happy pzizzing!

  9. Marissa on January 15th, 2010 5:28 pm

As someone that suffers from chronic sleep issues I love that Your Relax program can get me totally relaxed and sleeping. The problem is that the alarm never wakes me up. I wake up on my own with the program over and the headphones still in my ears. I keep the volume down or it wouldn’t be relaxing. Maybe if the alarm volume could be adjusted seperately. The built in iPhone clock alarms cam wake me up so I know it’s possible.

    edward's reply:

    Hi Marissa

Thanks for your message and for your feedback!

I’m delighted to hear that pzizz relax is working so well to relax you, and even happier to let you know that we are working on an update that should address your alarm request!

    Happy pzizzing!
