Our (nearly) Million Dollar Give Away

Well, as you may be aware, we’ve had some problems with the iTunes Store over the past few weeks, originally starting because I foolishly allowed my developer account to expire, not realizing that this would lead Apple to remove the pzizz apps from the Store.  Big mistake on my part!

This caused widespread confusion and, as it was completely my fault, when order was restored on 27th July I offered the pzizz apps for free up until the end of the month.

Not surprisingly, the result was fantastic, and 98,244 people took advantage of this offer over the course of just 4 days – and we gave away $981,457.56 of pzizz apps (yes, that’s 152 Terabytes of software – valued at just under $1 million!) before the apps mysteriously disappeared again on Saturday.

The response of friends and family members has been almost universal : “What were you thinking?  Have you lost your mind?”

But do you know what?  I don’t think so.  And I haven’t felt so good about anything for ages!

Where is pzizz?

Hi everyone

I’m so sorry if you’ve been having problems trying to find the pzizz apps in Apple’s App Store, but they appear to have been removed.

I have no idea why, nor have I received any notification from Apple. In my developer account all the status lights are ‘green’ and it says “Ready for Sale”.

All apps are downloaded from Apple’s servers, so it’s certainly not a matter of the pzizz system being overwhelmed (if it were, I could do something about it!)

I apologise. This is very frustrating for everyone and it’s certainly not because I have removed them from the App Store.

I have just written to Apple, but, typically, this has happened over the weekend and I don’t believe that Apple has support staff working outside normal working hours.  I just called the  developer support hotline and got a recorded message saying it’s only manned from 9-5, Monday to Friday.

Thanks for your patience and understanding…  I’m doing everything I can to find out what’s happened!

Well, it’s taken a while (in fact, it’s been 2 years and we’ve had 3 different web developers in that time!) but we’ve finally got the pzizz student discount running again on the pzizz website!

Actually, this is a bit of a misnomer, as the discount is available for ANYONE with an education type email address… (Students, Teachers, Administrators – everyone is welcome!)

ALL “.edu” and “.ac.uk” email addresses are eligible for the discount – as are literally hundreds of others that I’ve researched online.

We recognise that students need help with stress management, sleep problems and lack of energy just as much as anyone – and that money’s tight when you’re still at school or college – and we also believe that teachers do a great job in what can often be highly stressful situations.

Hi everyone

Our head developer, Trygve, spoke to me yesterday (Monday) and told me he expected to be able to show me the updates to our iPhone apps in the next couple of days – which is obviously great news!

However, it made me realise that I’ve been so busy concentrating on getting the iPhone apps updated, working on the new website and updating our affiliate program that I’ve completely forgotten to do some proper marketing of the iPhone apps themselves recently…

… and this means I have lots of promo codes left over!

(If you’re not aware, Apple gives developers 50 promo codes per update to give away to media, customers etc. but I’ve only given away half of them)

Anyway, I’ve got 20 ‘pzizz relax’ codes and 30 ‘pzizz sleep’ codes and I thought this might be a great time to give them away, rather than just let them expire!
